Riot is prepping one of the biggest updates of the Act: VALORANT 13.06 arrives on September 22, 2026 and it will rework the Agent Gear system. The official heads-up is in the official Patch 13.05 notes, which announced the switch. Here's what changes — and, most importantly, what you should unlock before the update so you don't miss out.
Patch 13.06: the essentials
Riot is billing this as a heavy patch for September 22, without detailing agent balance yet (the exact tuning values will land in the 13.06 notes on the day). What's officially confirmed is the Agent Gear progression rework, the return of Pick'Ems for Champions Shanghai, and a rollout of new anti-cheat penalties.
Agent Gear rework: what changes on September 22
Right now you can progress any agent's gear by spending Kingdom Credits, even on characters you never touch. From 13.06 onward, that logic changes completely.
- Playtime-based unlocks: each piece of gear will be tied directly to how much you play the associated agent.
- You keep everything: gear you've already unlocked stays yours — nothing is lost.
- Same currency: future unlocks will still use Kingdom Credits.
- Closing window: until September 22 you can still farm gear on agents you don't play — after that, you'll have to play them to earn it.
Champions Shanghai: Pick'Ems and rewards
Pick'Ems are back for Champions Shanghai. Predict the teams that advance, earn bonus points for nailing the exact placement, and pick up rewards just for taking part.
- Pick'Ems (Group Stage) open in-client and on the web: September 10.
- Lock in your picks before Groups kick off: September 24.
- Rewards are handed out simply for participating.
Anti-cheat: penalties for stream sniping and instalock tools
Riot has started rolling out penalties against stream sniping and instalock tools. Detected players receive temporary game bans that escalate to permanent with repeated use — a solid win for ranked integrity.
Already live since 13.05
- Sound sprays: attenuation was adjusted so you only hear a sound spray if it's nearby — team comms stay readable.
- Practice / Range: you can pick 10, 5, or 1 bot on launch, defaulting to 5 bots.
- Assorted fixes: smokes blocking flashes while dissipating (Astra, Brimstone, Clove, Omen…), Cypher trap bugs, Chamber performance, and more.
What about console?
VALORANT is also playable on PS5 and Xbox Series, with progression and account shared with PC. The Agent Gear rework applies the same way on console, so the same advice holds for controller players — before September 22, unlock the gear on agents you don't plan to play in console ranked.
