Valorant Performance Score Replaces ACS: What It Means for Ranked

Key takeaways

  • Average Combat Score (ACS) is gone: the Performance Score, rated 0 to 500, replaces it in Competitive, Unrated, Swiftplay and Premier.
  • It measures more than kills and damage, and decides MVP and scoreboard placement.
  • Per the official notes it is a feedback tool, with no mention of any effect on RR.
  • Accolades, Rank Legacy and Agent Mastery round out patch 13.06.

Valorant patch 13.06 officially retired ACS. In its place is the Performance Score, meant to reflect your real impact on the team. Everything below comes from the official patch 13.06 notes. Here is how to use it to climb faster in ranked.

What the Performance Score changes

The Performance Score replaces Average Combat Score on a 0 to 500 scale. According to the notes it measures more than damage and kills to give a fuller picture of your contribution. It applies to four modes and is used to pick the MVP.

  • Scale: 0 to 500, the end of the ACS era.
  • Modes: Competitive, Unrated, Swiftplay and Premier.
  • Role: decides MVP and scoreboard placement.
  • Feedback: an end-of-game breakdown shows the factors behind your performance.

Does Performance Score affect your rank?

Not according to the notes: it is presented as a scoreboard and feedback tool, with no mention of RR or MMR. Your rank still comes down to wins and losses. Even so, the end-of-game breakdown is a great way to spot what is holding you back.

How to use it to improve

  • Compare scores across several matches, not one: the trend matters more than a single number.
  • Check the end-of-game breakdown to see which factors drag your score down.
  • Do not chase empty kills: the score rewards team contribution, not just frags.
  • Use the Practice Range in queue to warm up while matchmaking.
Coach tip: a win with an average Performance Score beats an MVP in a loss. Fix your decisions first (timing, trades, utility) and the score follows.

Accolades, Rank Legacy and Agent Mastery

The patch adds three progression systems worth knowing:

  • Accolades: personal bests such as MVP count and highest kills in a game. They reset each Act with lifetime records kept, in Competitive and Premier.
  • Rank Legacy: tracks how many times you reached each rank. Each rank counts once per three-Act window, and being demoted into a rank does not count.
  • Agent Mastery: Act Levels (reset each Act) and permanent Lifetime Levels, with portrait upgrades at levels 4, 7 and 10.

Stuck in your rank? Take the next step

The Performance Score helps you diagnose, but the work is still on you. If you are plateauing, a coach can pinpoint your mistakes in a few sessions, and a boost can carry you past the wall.
