Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 is heading into its final stretch and the meta has settled. The August 27, 2026 patch (official notes) ships no balance numbers at all, which means the power rankings are still the ones set by the official Balance Post from August 7. What matters before September 11
Three things define the end of this season. First, raw-control Vanguards (Magneto, The Thing, Emma Frost) have overtaken area tanks, while Peni Parker collapsed after her Cyber-Web Snare rework. Second, the rewarded Duelists are the ones who can convert an opening alone: Elsa Bloodstone, Winter Soldier, Black Panther and The Punisher. Third, on the Strategist side, extended-fight sustain rules the ladder with Cloak & Dagger, Gambit, Mantis and Luna Snow. The rankings below target Diamond and above; under that rank, heroes you can execute cleanly usually beat the theoretically optimal pick.

What the August 27, 2026 patch actually changes
The patch that landed on August 27, 2026 at 09:00 UTC is a fix patch with no server downtime. The one item that matters for ranked play is Doctor Strange: he can no longer instantly restore the full value of his Shield of the Seraphim through the Psionic Vortex Team-Up while its enhanced effect is active. That is a technical nerf, and it makes his shield punishable again. Everything else is quality of life: Angela's visual effects tied to Odin's Team-Up are fixed, the Scarlet Witch / Doctor Strange Team-Up showcase video plays again, the "Sunset Shores" chroma of Cloak & Dagger no longer shows jagged textures, and Scarlet Witch's Floral Tide emote VFX are back in place. In the store, the Peni Parker Liquid Shell bundle runs from August 28 to September 25, 2026, alongside Angela Queen of Hel and Squirrel Girl Acorn Divinity.
On console: PS5, Xbox and ranked play
- Marvel Rivals runs on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
- Crossplay is full in Quick Match and custom games, but ranked splits the pools: PC on one side, controllers on the other.
- In console ranked, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S do queue together, so your lobby is 100% controller.
- Practical result: demanding hitscan heroes underperform on a stick, while melee and area kits (Venom, The Thing, Magik, Wolverine) overperform.
- Before a ranked session, re-check your sensitivity and aim assist curve — on console that single setting moves the needle more than any hero swap.

- August 28, 2026, 02:00 UTC — the limited Infinity Saga store tab opens with a renewable 20% Encore Coupon.
- September 11, 2026, 09:00 UTC — the Infinity Saga event ends and Season 10 is announced to start, bringing the game's 54th hero and the rank reset.
- The 54th hero has not been officially named. Leaks point to Gorr or Nightcrawler, so treat it as a rumour until NetEase confirms it.
