Why the easiest character to Lord in Marvel Rivals isn't the strongest one
Every hero in Marvel Rivals reaches Lord on the same points curve — 500, then 1,200, then 2,000, then 2,400 for a running total of 6,100 Proficiency Points across the four tiers up to Lord. What differs from hero to hero is how fast you generate those points per minute, and almost the entire gap comes from one variable: the hero-specific Ability Quota that sits alongside the three rotating quotas (Play Time, HP, KO).
That means the easiest character to Lord in Marvel Rivals isn't the one with the highest win rate — it's the one whose ability challenge fires whether or not you're winning the game. Below is the shortlist we've validated by role, with numbers where they exist and a clear ranking where they don't.

The Proficiency system in one screen
Four tiers to Lord, one shared curve. The four "missions" on your Proficiency tab are what actually generate points during a match. Three of them rotate for everyone: Play Time (be in-match), HP Quota (deal damage or heal), KO Quota (finals or assists). The fourth is your Ability Quota, and it's the only one that changes per hero.
- Agent → Knight: 500 points
- Knight → Captain: 1,200 points
- Captain → Centurion: 2,000 points
- Centurion → Lord: 2,400 points
- Running total to Lord: 6,100 points
Duelist: the easiest character to Lord in Marvel Rivals is Moon Knight
Moon Knight tops the Duelist shortlist because his Ankh bounces attacks between marked targets, so his Ability Quota ("Deal ability damage") fires on nearly every basic-attack cycle. You don't need to hit ults or land clean pick shots to feed his fourth quota — you just need to place an Ankh in the fight and shoot in its general direction.
- Moon Knight — bouncing Ankh keeps ability damage constant even when you miss.
- Hela — high, consistent primary-fire damage; her passive respawn cadence turns kills into a self-repeating combo.
- Punisher — turret placement plus Culling Turn easily banks HP quota in every fight, and his ult is a huge points spike.
- Squirrel Girl — projectile spam, wide splash, easy "hit multiple enemies" clearing on chokes.
Duelists to avoid if you're purely grinding
Iron Fist and Spider-Man have dive-dependent quotas that punish bad games. Storm and Magik have long ability cooldowns, so their Ability Quota drags well behind Moon Knight's or Hela's on the same clock. If your only goal is the Lord title, skip them for now.
Strategist: Luna Snow is the fastest character to Lord in Marvel Rivals, full stop
The community-benchmarked ceiling for Proficiency income is around 12.5 points per minute, and Luna Snow reaches it because her Absolute Zero freezes clear her Ability Quota in a single teamfight. She also cross-feeds two other quotas at once: healing beams pour HP into allies and her ult is a KO magnet.
- Luna Snow — the highest points-per-minute ceiling of any hero in the current build.
- Cloak & Dagger — her Dagger Storm and Cloak-swap both tick the Ability Quota constantly.
- Loki — rune duplication keeps his quota climbing even when he never dies.
- Mantis — ally boosts and constant healing tabs the HP Quota fast; her sleep dart also feeds KO potential.
Vanguard: Hulk, then Groot, then Peni
Hulk has one of the friendliest quotas in the game: "Apply Indestructible Guard to allies." You clear it by protecting teammates — the exact thing you'd already be doing on a Vanguard. Multiple guides identify this as the fastest tank quota in the roster.
- Hulk — bubble your team, tick the fourth quota, no aim required.
- Groot — wall placements bank quota points every fight, and his HP Quota naturally overflows from his massive kit.
- Peni Parker — mine placements and Bionic Spider-Nest score her Ability Quota passively; the nest also generates assist KOs.
- Thor — his mjolnir throw and awakening rune fire back-to-back in short trades.
Vanguards that fight the grind
Doctor Strange's shield-management quota only ticks when you actually block big ults, which is inconsistent below Diamond. Venom's swing-in requires kills to convert. Both make Lord slower per hour than Hulk.
Points-per-minute: how the top of the ranking looks
- Luna Snow — ~12.5 ppm (community benchmark)
- Moon Knight — ~10.5–11.5 ppm
- Hulk — ~10.0–11.0 ppm
- Hela — ~9.5–10.5 ppm
- Cloak & Dagger — ~9.5–10.0 ppm
- Mantis / Punisher — ~9.0–9.5 ppm
Everyone else lands between 6 and 9 points per minute in a typical Quick Match. The gap looks small until you multiply it: at 12.5 ppm Luna Snow clears the Centurion → Lord grind (2,400 points) in about 3h15 of pure match time; a 7 ppm hero needs closer to 5h45 for the same tier.
Five habits that shave hours off the Lord grind
- Play Quick Match, not Ranked — queues are shorter and the quotas don't scale down.
- Burn your four Arcade daily missions before the diminishing-returns cap kicks in.
- Actively feed the Ability Quota — check the fourth line before every match and play toward it.
- Chain sessions of 4–5 games on the same hero: quota progress carries between matches.
- Never leave a match early. All Play-Time points are forfeited on an early quit.
How long to Lord one hero, honestly
Using our own timings and the community benchmarks, here's a realistic range from zero to the Lord title on a single hero — Quick Match only, no ranked losses factored in:
- Luna Snow / Moon Knight / Hulk: 18–22 hours
- Hela / Cloak & Dagger / Punisher: 22–26 hours
- Average roster hero: 28–32 hours
- Slowest quotas (Iron Fist, Doctor Strange, Storm): 34–40 hours
Multiply by the number of heroes you want on Lord and the math gets brutal fast. That's why the meta shifted this season toward picking two "easy" heroes per role, Lording them first, and only then rotating into the ones you actually main.
