The Overwatch September 17, 2026 patch notes land as a targeted hotfix built around a single problem: D.Mon had dominated the tank picks since the September 8 balance pass, and the live team pulled her back on armor, on Focused Fusion damage, on Fusion Repeater and on Propulsors fuel drain – in one drop. The patch also re-enables Mercy in Stadium after a gameplay bug forced her out of that queue. Every change, every number, and what it means at your rank, below.
Every Change at a Glance
- D.Mon nerf, 5v5: base armor 325 → 275
- D.Mon nerf, 6v6: base armor 300 → 250
- D.Mon Focused Fusion: damage per bullet 45 → 36
- D.Mon Fusion Repeater: damage 16 → 15, cooldown 4s → 5s
- D.Mon Propulsors: fuel drain 25 → 30 per second (shorter fly time)
- Mercy Stadium: re-enabled in all Stadium queues after gameplay fix
- Carryover: September 10 bug fixes for Ramattra, Jetpack Cat and Vendetta still in force

D.Mon: The Numbers, Line by Line
D.Mon rolled off the September 8 patch as the best-performing tank across every rank band above Platinum. The armor pool made her fights binary – she either won brawl range outright or forced two ults out of the enemy team. Blizzard's answer, on September 17, is a four-lever cut.
Base Armor
- 5v5 base armor: 325 → 275 (-50, -15%)
- 6v6 base armor: 300 → 250 (-50, -17%)
The 5v5 armor pool now sits closer to Reinhardt's effective health. D.Mon can no longer eat a full Roadhog hook combo without popping Defense Matrix, and one-clip breakpoints for Widowmaker headshots and Hanzo primary come back into play.
Focused Fusion
- Damage per bullet: 45 → 36 (-9, -20%)
- Total burst at max stack down roughly 20% for the same cast time
Focused Fusion was the single most-flagged number in tank feedback. At 45 per bullet, the ability three-tapped 200-HP heroes with headshot damage and killed most supports at brawl range before Defense Matrix even dropped. At 36, it needs a full three-hit sequence to kill 200-HP targets and no longer one-clips supports without a headshot.
Fusion Repeater
- Damage: 16 → 15 per shot (-1, -6%)
- Cooldown: 4 → 5 seconds (+25%)
The cooldown bump is the bigger lever here. Fusion Repeater's uptime falls by roughly 20% across a full fight, and Focused Fusion no longer refunds as reliably off a brawl trade. The 1-damage cut looks cosmetic but it slides several breakpoints (Tracer at 3 shots + follow-up, Kiriko at 3 shots + melee).
Propulsors
- Fuel drain: 25 → 30 per second (+20%)
- Effective full-fuel fly time down from 4s to about 3.3s
Propulsors are how D.Mon gets in, gets out, and denies flank picks. Cutting fly time by roughly 0.7 seconds is enough to remove the second escape angle from most engagements. Sniper duels shift back in favor of the sniper, and dive tanks (Winston, Doomfist, Ball) reclaim map control on flank routes.
Ranked Impact: Where D.Mon Now Sits in the Tank Order
Combined, these four cuts drop D.Mon from clear S-tier to the top of A-tier at every ranked band. Expect first-pick rates to fall from ~34% to the mid-teens within the first week of live play. Tank counter-picks that were miserable into her (Roadhog, Zarya) become viable trades again. Off-tank duels vs Winston in 6v6 queue swing decisively back toward Winston.
Mercy Stadium: Fix and Re-Enable
Mercy had been pulled from Stadium queues on September 10 after a bug allowed her Valkyrie to persist across round resets, giving the support side an ult economy Blizzard never intended. The September 17 hotfix fixes the underlying interaction and re-enables Mercy in every Stadium queue.
Bug Fixes Still Live from September 10
The September 10 hotfix bundle carries forward. The known-issue fixes still in force on September 17:
- Ramattra: Nemesis form no longer refunded partial armor on cancel
- Jetpack Cat: hover-boost no longer clipped through Symmetra teleporters
- Vendetta: primary fire no longer double-registered against barriered targets
Replay Codes and Data Continuity
Replay codes captured on the September 8 balance patch remain valid after the September 17 hotfix. Highlights and workshop custom games are not affected. Competitive rank progress is preserved and no MMR was recalibrated.
What This Hotfix Means for Your Rank Climb This Week
If you were climbing on D.Mon: expect a two- to three-day period where your average game feels harder while opponents adjust their picks. Your instinct to hold brawl range needs rewiring – hold long angles, use Defense Matrix on the specific projectile you can't afford to eat, and stop trading into supports that used to fold to Focused Fusion. If you were losing to D.Mon: Roadhog, Zarya, Sigma and Winston all gain against her in Diamond and below. Master and above, Ramattra becomes the safest counter.
How to Adapt: Tank Priorities After September 17
- Winston – reclaims dive as the fastest first-pick threat
- Roadhog – hook combo now one-shots 250 HP tanks, D.Mon included
- Sigma – shield uptime beats D.Mon's reduced Focused Fusion output
- Ramattra – Nemesis form outtrades the shorter-duration Propulsors window
Support Priority Shift After the D.Mon Cut
Support picks that were forced into D.Mon lobbies (Kiriko for Suzu, Lucio for peel) become optional again. Ana climbs sharply because Nano into a diving Winston is now the most consistent tank-swing ult in the game, and Zenyatta's Discord Orb hits its full value against a tank pool that can no longer trade through it. Mercy, freshly re-enabled in Stadium, also returns to the ladder rotation with her damage boost multiplier untouched.
Damage Picks That Gain the Most
Two damage heroes benefit directly from the D.Mon cut: Widowmaker and Hanzo. Both now one-shot D.Mon body-only inside crit range at 275 armor with a fully charged shot – a breakpoint that was locked out at 325. Tracer also gains: her three-shot + follow-up sequence kills D.Mon before Defense Matrix can be reactivated on cooldown.
Pro Play Reaction
OWCS teams had leaned into the September 8 D.Mon composition to the point that most stage series ran double-D.Mon in the tank slot. Expect coaches to pull the pick from draft priority within the next tournament weekend and rotate back to Winston-Ramattra tank duos, especially on control maps where the shorter Propulsors window matters most.
