In Marvel Rivals, hero choice weighs heavily on your ability to climb ranked. Rather than chasing the strongest pick of the moment, aim for versatile heroes that stay solid across patches. Here's our tier list built for solo queue, organised by role.
Understanding the 3 roles
Marvel Rivals is built on a classic trio: Vanguard (tanks that create space), Duelist (DPS that deal damage) and Strategist (supports that keep the team alive). A balanced composition almost always beats a full-DPS team.
Vanguard: the space-makers
The best Vanguards combine a large health pool, crowd control and the ability to protect allies. They're often the most under-picked role in solo queue, so mastering a good one gives you an immediate edge to climb.
- Look for a tank with peel to protect your supports.
- Learn to engage only when your Strategists have their resources.
- Good Vanguard ultimate timing wins entire teamfights.
Duelist: the damage carries
Duelists have the highest carry ceiling, but also the most variance. Pick a hero with a reliable kit (good mobility, consistent damage) over an all-or-nothing burst. Consistency wins more rounds than highlights.
Strategist: the most underrated role
Strategists are statistically the role that carries most in ranked. A good support keeps the team alive, amplifies damage and times ultimates to cancel the enemy's. If you want the most stable win rate, master a Strategist.
How to use this tier list
A tier list is a starting point, not an absolute rule. The best hero is the one you master and that complements your team. Learn one per role to stay flexible at pick time. Want to reach Grandmaster faster? Our Marvel Rivals boosters can climb on your account discreetly.
